Book List

1. Chuck Klosterman, Eating the Dinosaur – Brilliant, profane, and frustratingly postmodern. The writing is great, the language frequently bad, the references to (non-sports related) pop culture often beyond me.
2. Forerunner of the Great Awakening: Sermons by Theodorus Jacobus Frelinghusysen (1691-1747), edited by Joel R. Beeke – These message still got pop after all these years. The introduction by Beeke is excellent. Evangelicals can learn a lot from Frelinghuysen, both from his strengths and his weaknesses.
3. William Poundstone, Priceless: The Myth of Fair Value (and How to Take Advantage of It) – One of the most interesting books I’ve read in a long time. Fascinating look at how prices are set and how we don’t really know how much anything is worth.
4. Brian McLaren, A New Kind of Christianity: Ten Questions That Are Transforming the Faith – Everything you ever wanted to know about this book and more, right here.
5. Paul Johnson, Churchill – What a man and what a terrific work: sharp, winsome, and short (just like Churchill). I can’t think when I’ve read a better beginning and ending. And the middle is good too.
