Martin Luther and the Destruction of the Devil

August 31, 2024

As Christians we have a 2,000-year history filled with stories to tell and lessons to learn. "Sketches In Church History" is a series of lectures delivered by Kevin DeYoung that offer a snapshot of key figures and consequential moments in time.

After looking at the early church and the medieval period across 20 unique lectures in Part I & Part II, we now turn our attention to the Reformation, the Puritan era, and the transatlantic Awakening.

"Sketches In Church History: Part III" explores the broader themes, ideas, and movements from the end of the medieval period up to the beginning of the modern world. We cover familiar individuals like Martin Luther, John Calvin, Jonathan Edwards, and George Whitefield, as well as men and women slightly less known to us like Thomas Cranmer, William of Orange, and Susannah Wesley.

Kevin DeYoung delivered this lecture during Sunday School at Christ Covenant Church in Matthews, NC on August 25, 2024.

These lectures are posted weekly until the class is complete. The YouTube playlist can be seen here.
