Boniface VIII and the Height (and Depth) of Papal PowerNovember 9, 2023
As Christians, we have a 2,000-year history filled with stories to tell and lessons to learn. After looking at the early church last fall, we now turn our attention to the history of Christendom during the Medieval period. By focusing on one person each week, we will explore the broader themes, ideas, and movements from the Middle Ages up to the cusp of the Reformation. We will cover topics like St. Patrick and the barbarian conversion, Charlemagne and the beginning of Europe, and Richard the Lionheart and the Crusades, as well as key figures like Aquinas, Wycliffe, and Hus. There is no need to have attended last year's church history class in order to attend this one.
These lectures are posted weekly until the class is complete and the YouTube playlist can be followed here.
These recordings were from Pastor Kevin DeYoung's Church History Sunday School class at Christ Covenant Church and were recorded during the Fall 2023 semester.
